Brake Disk Replacement Services Uxbridge

Here are some of the most common questions our staff are asked

The most common sign or symptom that your pads need replacing is a squealing or high-pitched screeching noise every time you apply the brakes. Depending on the age of your vehicle, some cars will display a warning light when your pads get too low.
We would not advise you to keep driving once you know or suspect that your brakes need to be replaced. The brakes will not work as efficiently as they previously did, and your brakes may not work in an emergency, potentially placing you, your passengers, and other road users at risk. Additionally, if your brake pads are worn, then they can cause damage to your discs which could end up needing to be replaced should you continue to drive.

Several different signs may help you identify the need to replace your brake discs.

These include

  • Juddering feedback from the brake pedal when you apply the brake.
  • A high-pitched squealing sound
  • Your car pulling to one side or the other when applying your brakes
  • The surface of any brake disc should be smooth. Take a close look at your discs; if you see lots of ripples, this is one of the most obvious signs that they will need to be replaced.
  • Alternatively, if you cannot see any ripples on the discs, another option is to feel around the inner lip of the brake disc. If you can feel a large lip around the edge, that is another clear sign that it is time to replace your discs.
  • In most cases, the discs will wear at roughly the same rate, so if one of your brake discs needs to be replaced, it is highly likely that the others will as well.
